Fraxel: Overview
Fraxel is the first laser that can be used on the whole body to treat imperfections of skin and restore a younger, healthier look. Unlike other lasers there is no down time. The skin appears as if you had a light sunburn. Skin returns to normal usually within a week.
Fraxel is a safe, non-invasive laser skin treatment that removes years from your appearance. Fraxel treats a fraction of skin at a time with thousands of microscopic laser columns—each just one-tenth the diameter of a hair follicle. The laser columns stimulate a natural healing process that works from the inside out replacing damaged tissue with younger, smoother, healthier skin. Fraxel can be used on any area of the body.
Fraxel: Procedure
Fraxel is a fractionated CO2 laser using a 135 micron hand piece that can affect a fraction of the surface at a time with thousands of microscopic laser columns—each just one-tenth the diameter of a hair follicle. The laser columns stimulate a natural healing process that works from the inside out, replacing damage tissue with younger, smoother, healthier skin.
The actual procedure consists of cleaning the skin, which is followed by a topical anesthetic ointment. About 60 to 90 minutes later, when the anesthetic has taken full effect, the laser can be applied to the area being treated. Fraxel is the first laser that can be used on the whole body to tighten skin and correct surface irregularities such as scars, color, pigment, texture, wrinkles and large pores.
Fraxel: Recovery
After Fraxel laser treatment, you will have some degree of redness, swelling or a sunburn look, all of which depends on the aggressiveness of your procedure. You can return to routine activities in as little as one hour.
