Gortex: Overview
Gortex is a polytetraflouroethylene material that has been used in cosmetic surgery for over 20 years. It is approved by the FDA for use in surgery for the reconstruction of soft tissue. What makes Gortex unique is that it can be removed at a later date if desired, making it the preferred implant for patients who prefer an alternative to Alloderm. Gortex is permanent unless it is removed.
Gortex: Procedure
Gortex can be used in any area of the body: body of the lips, lip borders, frown lines, forehead furrows, corners of the mouth, nasal folds, cheeks, and the chin.
Gortex: Recovery
No restrictions on activity. Mild swelling and bruising is possible.
