How to Look Like a Victoria’s Secret Model

Dr. Michael Gray No Comments

Do a Google search on the web for “How to look like a Victoria’s Secret model” and you’re going to find over 100,000 websites that give everything from makeup application advice to diets to special exercise regimens. Why? Because women want to look like Victoria’s Secret models.

Let’s face it, not all magazine models are drop-dead gorgeous, but ask anyone who’s ever shopped for a new bra or lingerie by looking through the Victoria’s Secret mail-order catalog and they’ll tell you that the women hired by this company are some of the most beautiful women in the world. It’s no wonder that the Victoria’s Secret catalog is the most popular mail-order catalog — for the women interested in buying new underwear as well as for the boyfriends and husbands shopping for that sexy teddy to give for Valentine’s Day or Christmas. And let’s not forget that the Victoria’s Secret catalog is also extremely popular among middle school boys (but we won’t go there!).

Step Out at the Oscars!

Dr. Michael Gray No Comments

Usually people talk about the Oscars at the watercooler in the office on Monday mornings. This year, however, it seems like people have been talking about the 2014 Academy Awards (“The Oscars”) all week. It was a memorable award ceremony this year with host Ellen Degeneres, a record-breaking celeb selfie on Twitter, John Travolta’s crazy name faux pas and more than a few funny jokes (including what was the first pizza delivery to the award show).

Of course, like every year, we all watched as the celebs stepped out of their limos and onto the Red Carpet as they made their way into the venue for the Oscars. The beautiful gowns, perfect hair and makeup, and those beautiful boobs (nice work by those Hollywood surgeons!). But beyond all the pomp and circumstance, there’s a great lesson for all of us in the annual Oscars. Those Hollywood kings and queens — the stars of the movies we love — enjoy getting all made up and looking spectacular for what is called the biggest night of Hollywood. And you can too! Have fun and step out looking gorgeous this spring. Why not put on a floor length gown and have your man put on a dapper tux for a fun night on the town?

Barbie Doll is a Cover Girl!

Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit issue is an annual tradition. Men can’t wait for it to arrive in their mailbox or on news stands… and everyone is eager to hear who the famous cover girl will be.

Well, for the first time in Sports Illustrated’s history, the cover girl isn’t a girl at all. It’s a doll! That’s right, the world famous Barbie Doll graces the cover of SI’s swimsuit issue this year. It’s Barbie’s 50th birthday and the popular sports magazine wanted to honor her.

Dr. Michael Gray of the Michigan Cosmetic Surgery Center and Skin Deep Spa in West Bloomfield, Michigan took one look at the cover of the swimsuit issue and started to laugh. “People always say that these pretty swimsuit models had plastic surgery, well this year no one can deny that the cover girl is all plastic!”

Dr. Gray thought it would be funny to create a “Before and After” cosmetic surgery Barbie Doll.

Some women say that cosmetic surgery “is just a fact of life like changing worn out tires. Women have their babies and then they fix what needs fixin’.”

We all know that the beautiful celebrities and cover girls that we ooh and aah over when we see them on TV and in the movies had cosmetic surgery. Hollywood stars like Jennifer Aniston, Kim Kardashian, and Paris Hilton had help to look as gorgeous as they do. And they’re not vain… they’re smart!

Cosmetic Surgery Is Hot Says Study

Dr. Michael Gray No Comments

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons reported in a recent article in USA Today that cosmetic procedures rose 5% across the board between 2011 and 2012. ASPS President Dr. Greg Evans of Irvine, CA was quoted from a statement, saying “for the third consecutive year, the overall growth in cosmetic surgery continues to be driven by a significant rise in minimally invasive procedures, while surgical procedures remain relatively stable.”

That is no surprise to Dr. Michael Gray of the Michigan Cosmetic Surgery Center and Skin Deep Spa in West Bloomfield, Michigan. “Here in Michigan I have noticed that exact trend over the past several years. Our center has grown steadily over the past decade as we’ve introduced more procedures to help our patients feel better about themselves,” Dr. Gray explained.

“Our patients come from all over the country and all over the world. What’s most surprising to many of our patients is how quickly we’re able to perform these procedures and how short the recovery time is.”

In the USA Today article, it states that while people may be struggling with gas prices and health care costs, cosmetic plastic surgery procedures actually rose 5% from 2011 to 2012. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, in 2012 14.6 million procedures, including minimally invasive and surgical, were performed in the U.S., according to the organization’s annual statistics.

“For the third consecutive year, the overall growth in cosmetic surgery continues to be driven by a significant rise in minimally invasive procedures, while surgical procedures remain relatively stable,” ASPS President Gregory Evans said in a statement. Minimally invasive procedures include treatments such as Botox, chemical peels and laser hair removal.

Evans says the statistics may show that people are spending more on the minimally invasive procedures because they have less discretionary income to use for surgical procedures, such as liposuction. Cosmetic surgery is usually not covered by health insurance because it is elective.

Some of the other interesting data to come out of the report is that breast augmentation remains the top surgical procedure and male breast reduction (gynecomastia) jumped 5% with close to 21,000 procedures were done.

“Cosmetic surgery just isn’t for the wealthy and celebrities anymore,” Dr. Gray says. “It’s for people who want to look and feel better. Even when times are tough financially, people will find a way to enhance their beauty and improve their health.”
